In the import and export data of steel pipes, the import volume is not large, accounting for about 0.4% of the production data. The total import volume from January to November 2017 was 373900 tons, a decrease of 15200 tons or 4.24% compared to the same period last year, mainly due to the increase in domestic oil pipeline usage. For the next few years, China's welded pipe imports mainly come from Japan, South Korea, Germany, and Taiwan, China, China, whose imports account for more than half of the total imports. The main importing countries for seamless pipes are Japan, Germany, and the United States.

The overall export volume showed a downward trend from 2016 to 2017. According to data statistics, the total export volume of steel pipes from January to November 2017 was 7.3809 million tons, a decrease of 1.02 million tons or 12.1% compared to the same period last year. However, in 2017, due to factors such as trade frictions and high domestic steel prices, the export volume slightly declined. Main reasons: Firstly, various steel mills in China have implemented varying degrees of production restrictions this year, which has suppressed export output; Secondly, high domestic profits and high steel prices are not conducive to steel exports, resulting in a lack of price advantage

For the future export volume, with the enhancement of domestic technology, it is expected that the competitiveness of domestic product exports will continue to increase, and the export volume will steadily rise. For 2018, due to the increase in production restrictions in the past two years and the easing of domestic supply and demand pressure, the export volume may continue to remain low. Therefore, it is expected that the export volume will fluctuate between 7.7 million and 8 million tons.

The import and export volume of steel pipes has little impact on the domestic supply and demand situation. With the implementation of supply side reform, the supply-demand gap of domestic steel pipes will further narrow, and the supply and demand environment will improve. Domestic steel pipe enterprises are in a healthy competitive environment.
